Our Story
ChickenRoad began as a weekend project in 2019 when our four founding members, all passionate mobile game developers, gathered in a small apartment in Seattle to participate in a 48-hour game jam. The challenge was to create a game based on a classic concept with a modern twist. Our team leader, Sarah Chen, pitched the idea of reimagining the age-old "why did the chicken cross the road?" joke as an addictive mobile game.
What started as a simple prototype quickly evolved into something special. After winning the game jam, we realized the potential of our quirky chicken-crossing game and decided to form Pixel Roost Studios to develop it into a full-fledged mobile title. We secured initial funding in early 2020 and spent the next 18 months refining the gameplay, creating distinctive characters, and building challenging levels.
Despite the challenges of remote development during the global pandemic, ChickenRoad launched in November 2021 and exceeded all our expectations, reaching 1 million downloads in its first month. Today, our team has grown to 15 full-time developers, artists, and marketers dedicated to expanding the ChickenRoad universe with regular updates, events, and community engagement.
